Sekali sehari

at the mother's room
Dulu 3 hingga 4 kali pam sehari, di pejabat. Sekarang, production amat kurang. Hanya pam sekali sehari, biasanya pukul 3 atau 4 petang. Mudah-mudahan dapat terus breastfeed anak sayang. Insyaallah...

Are you insured?

A form of assurance, in case unfavorable events set in. There are lots of insurance product in the market nowadays. Of which vehicle, life and medical being among the top ones.

Believe it or not, having own an insurance policy for medical is an increasing trend in Malaysia. In developed countries, it has always appear important to the extend that medical treatment cannot be enjoyed should one does not enrolled any. We are fortunate that medical cost in Malaysia still being subsidised by the government. As low as RM1, Malaysian could enjoy medical treatment complete with medication for 1 to 3 months. Crazily cheap. Well, as crazy as the queuing crowd too. Appointments usually fixed once every 2 to 3 months depending on how critical the case is. Point to ponder, can you really wait?

I am fortunate for being employed by MNCs since graduated in 2007. These companies offer attractive medical perks; lavish. Thank you to my current employee, the whole family (husband, kids and I) is covered by ING. So technically, I am spoiled for having to enjoy good medicines and consultation in town. Until one day, I realized 'Hey, what if one day I am no longer with the employer? As much possible I want my kids to continue to get the best' That is when I thought of enrolling medical policy, especially for my kids. Alhamdulillah, I managed to get a policy for Raudhah as her 18months old gift, while Umar gets his as soon as he was born :) Having this resulted in the peace of mind for the mother. However, I am the only one in the family without alternative insurance coverage! Husband and kids are Takaful-ly protected! Hehehe Insyaallah will arrange for self-enrollment soon :)

Nobody wish to be sick. So do I. What more than not when it comes to my loved ones. From my recent experience, I highly encourage parents out there to enroll medical insurance for their children. Our recent hospital bill costs us 5-digits amount. Pheww. Lucky ING covered the expenses. Imagine if it was not? Honestly I don't have savings as much! Of course, going to government hospital is always free, with husband being an officer serving the government. No questions, the skilled specialist is there. But then again, few pull-factors lead us to private hospital. Quick respond, pleasant ambiance, satisfactory services.

Alhamdulillah, we had the advantage and access to great doctors and treatments. Again, I have no problem with government hospital. Hey, I was born in HKL! Just that being a parent, you can't help it but to give the best possible to your children as far as medical is concerned. Don't wait, get your own policy today! Ewah...

p/s: I chose to subscribe to PruBSN medical policy for my kids. You can enjoy the benefits with monthly installment as low as RM100. Let me know if you are interested. Maybe my agent can assist you. (I gain no commission from this. Just a strong believer in insurance)

Milky-deal

Nowadays, awareness on the benefits of breast milk (BM) is the main highlight of motherhood and indirectly, parenting. Many hospitals carry out campaigns and advertisement to encourage breast feeding for the new generation. Facilities at their premises are enhanced and advisory or consultation on the topic is offered to mothers/parents, especially the young/new ones. Efforts to support this aspiration are massive, but is worthwhile in the long run. Serious, indeed. To the extend that some even labeled their organization as breast feeding-friendly or established a non-formula (FM) or non-feeding bottle compound. Great. Not-so-fortunately (unfortunately sounds so ungrateful), both my babies were introduced to FM since day 2. And at the hospital, they feed the baby using a small cup; worry that baby gets confused when introduced to feeding bottle that early. Luckily, not in my case. Anak-anak belasah je; gaya askar.

Yes, BM is the best source of food for the newborn and babies; the right composition of nutritions, complete with immunization and water to keep a baby 'full' and happy. So keep on breast feeding, mommies!

Panjangnya mukadimah. Sebenarnya nak cerita pasal botol susu je. Haha. Alhamdulillah, both babies tak memilih.

For working mothers, feeding bottles are our best friend besides our beloved gadget; the breast pump. Few weeks before going back to work,   introduction to feeding bottle is one of the crucial modules for the babies.

Raudhah Amani's first feeding bottle was non other that what's included in Medela's CityStyle breast pump bag, teat sponsored by her Maklong Tida, from Dr Brown's. Relaks je; nothing grand. I only bought her proper feeding bottles when she was 6 months old. And MAM's anti colic bottles caught my eyes; bought a pack of 3 terus. Happy! I love MAM's anti colic feeding bottles. All parts can be opened/detached from each other; which ensure the peace of mind as cleanliness is reachable to every inch of its parts. The price is reasonable and among the cheapest too. To date, I have 3 units of 5oz bottle and 3 units for 9oz = 6 all together. Now, the 5oz bottles are passed down to Umar Faruqi. The bottles are still in good shape! Plus the material used is durable. Tahan lasak. You don't hear disturbing noise (macam Avent) when thrown hard by a toddler like Ms super RAZ. Tak kan terfikir, 'aduh habis pecahlah botol mahal tu...'with MAM. But one thing I do not enjoy is the time you take to assemble the 5 parts before feeding. Every connection must be in tact or you will find yourself crying over the spilled milk; moreover if the milk cost you RM94 per tin.

Stylish with MAM anti colic

A month after Umar was born, I thought of trying new bottles. I was looking for baby gift for a friend when I decided to buy one for my RA.UF too. Avent's PES feeding bottles. PES is an enhanced version of PP. Besides the 'grand' honey-tint colour, PES does not require additional valve to operate. So it is a normal 3 parts bottle like botol cap Disney. The starter pack contains 2 units of 4oz bottle, 2 unit of 9oz bottle, a soother, extra teats and bottle brush. In my limited feeding bottle experience, I would say Avent is expensive. Learned from a blogshop that Avent's PES 4oz bottle cost RM46.90. MAM RM40 pon tak sampai. Nonetheless, I am happy that milk leakage is no longer an issue with Avent. Just, RAZ and UFZ got problem with Avent's teat. They prefer MAM's silky teat. Yeah, Avent teats got wasted in my house! Teat MAM pula, memang pelawa kena gigit. Berlubang RAZ kerjakan. Hehe anak, anak...

Avent-ly happy :)

As for Tommie Tippie, I bought the Explora cup for RAZ. Biasa buat pakai untuk minum ribena. Pricey than MAM but cheaper than Avent. There are a lot more brands out there. But the question is, do they suit your baby? Bottom line, look for Bisphenol A (BPA) free; chemical content usually found in plastics that can harm your child's development.

Ms RAZ and Tommie Tippie
Breast feeding is so convenient. One does not have to wake up, assemble the feeding bottle, mix the FM with water, shake a little bit and serve the FM to the baby. All you have to do is breast feed; you can even continue the beautiful sleep while feeding your baby. Simple! I hope I would be able to breast feed Umar longer compared to Raudhah. Mudah-mudahan ada rezeki. I miss cuddling Raudhah while she is having BM. I miss that 'bonding' moment :) How time flies. She will celebrate her 2nd birthday this month. This also means that I have stopped breast feeding her for almost 1 year now.

No matter how breast feeding works for you, what FM your child consume and how expensive the feeding bottle is, take a step back and remember, rezeki ini dari Allah. Ramai kawan yang merungut susu tak banyak or bangga sekali pam 20oz. Well, Allah adil. Semoga rahmat Allah sentiasa bersama kita. Setiap kesusahan ada hikmahnya. Jangan putus asa ok?

P/s: This quote inspired me to bits, brighten my day when production gone low than usual. Hope it makes your day too :)

"In the end, how much milk you pump doesn't determine your worth as a mother. Your child will be better off with you as a happy, responsive, loving mother than the world's most productive wet nurse" - BSC

Alhamdulillah, besar nikmatMu Ya Allah...

55

Fuh. Home sweet home. Went to clinic to check on Umar just now. Ayah dah di Kuantan. Rasa patah sebelah kaki bila ayah tiada. Bukan manja tetapi belum hebat mengawal dua anak sendirian. Sebentar tadi ujian kemuncak. Adik tak boleh tahan lagi lantas menangis tak henti. Sebak. Dukung sudah, dodoi sudah, sapu minyak yuyi pon sudah namun tak berhasil. Last resort, satu rumah ikut ke klinik. Mujur atuk nenek sayang. Terima kasih BaMa! Alhamdulillah, Umar dah lega. Sedang asyik minum susu ganti tenaga yang hilang. Ibu lebih sepuluh kali ganda lega. Punya anak kecil beginilah. Susah hati bila si manja kurang sihat. Semoga Allah lindungi kalian.

Alhamdulillah anak bujang dah botak. Sempat ayah cukur rambut Umar petang tadi. Umar tegap, jadi ayah yakin nak cukurkan walaupun baru sebulan lebih. Raudhah dulu hanya botak pada usia 4 bulan. Raudhah turut sama tengok proses cukur. Sekali sekala Raudhah gelak. Geli hati barangkali.

RAZ & UFZ :)

Ibu perhati Raudhah lebih ceria akhir-akhir ni. Mungkin sebab ayah ada sama kita, seminggu bercuti. Allah saja tahu betapa senang hati ibu lihat anak mesra dengan ayahnya. Ayah pun pandai ambil hati. Secara tak langsung bantu ibu uruskan anak. Juga dalam urusan rumah yang lain. Terima kasih ayah. Bertuah dapat suami ringan tulang. Lepas ni kembali ke rutin asal. Semoga Allah permudahkan.

Subhanallah indahnya hari-hari bersama kalian. Mudah-mudahan ada rezeki untuk kita terus begini. Bahagia. Alhamdulillah, besar nikmatMu Ya Allah...

Feeding bottle

My favourite ( the only brand I use so far) is MAM. I love MAM anti colic bottles as all parts can be opened and ensure that every inch of the parts is reachable during washing/bottle cleaning time. Walla!

Moreover, it is 'heavy duty'. Raudhah loves to throw away things, including her feeding bottles. So far alhamdulillah dok baling-baling pon boleh pakai elok lagi. Satu masalah je lagi. Tabiat gigit puting datang. Habis berlubang dibuatnya. Ibu terpegun kejap. Satu puting harga RM12 0_o. Kalau bagi puting lain tahu pula tu, reject.

Am thinking if trying Avent's feeding bottle. Is it good? Any reviews?

Assembled bottle ayah's way...this is FUSION. Mujur anak tak confuse ;p

The end...isn't it?

I think this is the end of my first laptop :( RAZ did it again, last night. This time, she took out the rubber that hold the keypad and the keyboard together. This laptop means so much to me. A gift from my boyfriend (or ex-boyfriend in present). A gift that allows me to do work in mobile, regardless of location. Heartbreaking. I do not opt for replacement as much as I want u forever, ex-boyfriend. Oh RAZ...

Ex-boyfriend, forgive me will u?

P/s: terpaksalah pinjam toshiba biru if nak buat keje kat rumah, please...

1 month on a special date

Alhamdulillah UFZ turns 1month today. This means the paid leave is down to 30 days to its end. Part of me, I cant wait to get back to work and start thinking, arguing, analysing and justifying again. Its basically a headache and somehow I am missing it. Gosh, I am not sick do I? ;p

Funny, it has only been 20 months since my last confinement. But it feels like my first. How on earth could I forget how it is like. The weak body, the sleepless nights and the changing baby schedule. Oh my. All I remember is how refreshing the bertungku, urut and mandi air daun were. Ingat pantang ni macam spa ke?

True, every kid is different. Same applies to RAZ and UFZ. UFZ consumes much much more than RAZ. He can still take 3oz of formula after 3oz of EBM and an hour of breastfeeding. Yes, I have loss the battle from day 1. Enfalac has been helping me to cope with UFZ's needs. As long as you grow healthy young boy, bring it on.

The first month has been a sleepless nights galore for me. One day, Umar would wake up at 12am and only went off to sleep at 6am. And on another day, he woke up at 2am and went back to sleep at 6am. But last night, he didnt wake up at all. I guess he knew that I need a break.

During this confinement, I am a bit weak spiritually. I didnt have enough rest that I became stress especially after all the efforts made, Umar still cries. Heartbreaking. It is not easy to juggle between RAZ, UFZ and some of the house chores. But this is what I should expect from today and onwards. So wake up and adapt, Jaja!

Today, I felt terrible for letting the stress took me down. The article below says them all...

BESARNYA PAHALA SEORANG IBU... :')

.

Subhanallah, besar ganjarannya.

After reading this, I text the husband, "Habis pahala Ja sebab stress, tak sabar and tak bersyukur :( " Come to think about it, I am human too and no matter how optimist and motivated I am, there are times that I am the otherwise. Bottom-line, I must bounce back and quickly realize that such feelings should not prolonged.

I hope I can improve after this. Insyaallah. Mind over the tired body and mixed emotion.

1 month old UFZ

Happy 1 month, Umar Faruqi :)

If it is not meant to be...

I accidently spilled my precious milk this morning. 2oz easily. For a mother with low milk supply like yours truly, it is devastating. Well, it is not meant to be ours, UFZ. Perhaps next time...

p/s: Somehow my confidence towards bumblebee storage bottle becomes really really low... be extra careful, ibu!

Sebelas

Hari ni Umar cukup 11 hari. Ibu rasa, first two weeks ni hectic sikit. Asyik pergi-balik hospital sebab kuning. Alhamdulillah, Umar tak apa-apa dan tak perlu admitted. Mungkin ibu yang risau lebih. Nampak semacam, walaupun orang kata sikit ibu tetap nak pergi hospital nun kat KL. Hanya confirmation from doctor mampu buat hati ibu senang. Maaf, doktor atok and doctor nenek. Tang ni, ibu degil sikit. BUT it is only for our benefits. Itu satu kisah. Lagi satu hal yang menggemparkan jadi Khamis lepas. FYI, Umar dah sunat seawal umurnya 2 hari. Mengikut kata Dr Faisal, selalunya kaedah yang dilalui Umar ambil masa 10 hingga 14 hari untuk sembuh. Tapi nak jadi cerita, hari kesembilan (tujuh hari lepas sunat), lepas mandi petang sedang ibu pakaikan baju tiba-tiba Umar menangis kuat. Ibu cek-cek tengok plastic bell tanggal and berdarah. Ibu panik! Risau kalau Umar kesakitan. Siap ibu pun menangis sekali. Ibu yakin ibu tak kasar masa handle Umar. Salah ibu ke? Malam tu jugak ibu haruk atok nenek ke emergency PCMC. Tapi malang, GP tak mampu bagi advice. Esoknya ibu ke sana semula bawa Umar jumpa Dr Faisal. Thanks Cuya, teman kami. Nanti ibu bagi upah, tapi tak semewah dulu k.

Sampai je kat consultation room, doc cek bebird Umar. "Molek." Itu saja komen doc. Syukur. Ibu tak sanggup if Umar kena go through procedure lain pulak. Doc sempat tegur Umar kuning sikit. Siap share experience kesemua lima anak-anaknya pun begitu. Ramah. Takpa, dah kurang kuningnya kan anak bujang ayah? Syukur :) Lepas ni jangan marah if ibu bedung. Since tali pusat tanggal hari kelapan and bebird pon dah sembuh hari kesembilan, ibu rasa Umar tak sakit dah if ibu ikat sikit kaki tu. Ok boy?

Anak dua orang selang setahun tapi bila sorang nangis, sorang lagi ikut sama. Sorang tak sihat, sorang lagi ikut juga. Macam kembar pulak. Si kakak Raudhah gatal-gatal badan. Kita rajin-rajin sapu ubat k.

Fuh keluar 'berjalan' saja ibu 11 hari ni. Hopefully Raudhah and Umar sihat saja lepas ni. Ibu pon tak sabar nak sihat balik. Rindu nak main dengan anak-anak :) Pergerakan masa pantang ni agak terbatas. Boring. Pergi kerja kita rempit naik moto sama-sama. Auwww macam bercinta you. Haha. Rindu lagi.

Oh berat badan dah turun 15kg. 25kg lagi nak achieve target. Jom ayah, kita kurus bersama. Hehe :D

Sebetulnya ibu sangat boring hari ni. For obvious reason, ayah tak balik sebab turn duty jatuh pada hari ni. Perhaps next week boleh jumpa? :)

Semoga kita anak beranak terus tabah. Syukur ada nikmat berkasih sayang :)

Penyabar, yeke?

One of the support staff raised her opinion about me today, "Jaja ni penyabar betul. Kalau akak tu, mesti anak dah kene cubit..." she was referring to RAZ's 'project-X' (refer the entry on Little Mechanic )

Itu baru satu. Combat girl ayah ni dah pandai macam-macam lately. But come to think about it, yes I rarely scold her for the things she did. Penyabar? Ibu-ibu lain pon sama je kot :)

As a working mother, I feel guilty for not being able to give all the attention in the world to my girl. Most of my time is spent at work. Keluar seawal 6.15pg, sampai di rumah semula paling awal jam 6.45ptg. Balik usually dah penat. Tapi, urusan tak habis di situ. Malam masuk shift motherhood pulak. Basuh feeding bottles, pack bag anak, kissing, cuddling and catching up with the little one. The time to 'spoil' RAZ for the 'opportunity lost' to something essential for a living, called WORK. Siang ibu kerja, malam ibu layan awak k. Tidur lambat, nak tgk dvd, scribbling conteng-conteng kertas, panjat kerusi, campak baling mainan semua ibu ikutkan. Tapi bukan ikut-ikut kosong. Kalau tak betul kena tegur tapi bukan dengan kaedah pukul. Oh memang tuntut kesabaran yang tinggi. But I believe that at this age, kids are in the exploring stage. Scolding or screaming at them will only shut off the skills to imagine and explore. So I choose to smile rather than screaming at her.

Danger. Potential emotional hazard.

Ibu loves you so much dear RAZ! :)

Motherhood

It has been almost 17 months now since I gave birth to our first edition. How time flies. Motherhood has taught me a little bit more about life. An on-going lesson that in the end make you become a better person.

Sacrifices have taken place before the baby was even born. Just imagine the attempts that our mothers had gone through to where we are today.

I remember the moment in the labor room. I was fortunate, for having the opprtunity to give birth at a 5 star hospital. Your wellbeing is well taken care of and access to all sort of medications are readily available as you wish.

My 45 minutes experiencehh in labor room is considered as an easy one. Of course, with epidural in the picture. Still, I felt every bit of the needle tip that went through my skin, at the private part! But what is that compared to natural birth, kan?

Well, that is just the beginning of being a superwoman behind a well raised child. Then comes the sleepless nights, breastfeeding, going back to work dilemma, babysitter, which formula to choose (breastmilk is always the best), leaving your baby for outstation work, colic, teething and so many more.

I must admit that it is not easy being a working mother. Time is a factor that needs to be managed wisely. Another challenge is to keep your emotions at peace. Work nowadays is very demanding that sometime it drives you nuts. Work in KL just adds in the stress with bad traffic in the picture. This is where you have to manage the stress. The moment you reached home, that is the end of it (stress) and the happy hours of the day continue. Well, of course house chores await! Cleaning the feeding bottles, doing the baby's laundry, packing for tomorrow's baby bag and of the best part, catching up with your little one. See? 'Work' doesnot end at the office, there is more of it at home for supermom! Indeed, if not carefully managed one can end up stressful easily. This is where helpful husband comes in handy.

One thing I realize during this motherhood journey is to learn to let go. I used to be a kind of organized person, seriously. I hate seing things out of order and find messy-ness irritating. At this stage, babies or toddlers is exploring their surrounding through different ways. They pick up things and put them inside their mouth, throw things here and there, spill their milk and laugh about it. And throughout these stages, I learned to let go the organized side of me, be patient and enjoy the moments with my child :) let them do the mess and only cleans the mess later. No point of doing the cleaning work early, avoid double work.

I guess the key message is about being flexible. Why burden your mind on small things when you have so many things to be happy about? Just my 2 cents worth :)

Ibu loves you, RAZ!
